THE HUMANITY WE ALL SHARE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE MENTAL CONDITION WE MAY NOT.

EVERY ONE OF US IS IMPERFECT BUT WE ARE ALL WORTHY OF LOVE AND BELONGING.

Every one of us is imperfect but we are all worthy of love and belonging.

WhatISee(m) [This is a working title].

The Project:

WhatISee(m) is a collaborative project between Matthew Monaghan and Luca Rutherford that seeks to interrogate our cultural perceptions of mental illness.

Our premise: – The humanity we all share is more important than the mental conditions we may not share. –  We are all imperfect but we are all worthy of love and belonging.

Aim: –   To make a piece of verbatim theatre through interviewing and talking to people about mental health. We would like to speak to people who self identity themselves with experiencing mental health conditions of any kind, and people who work within mental health. Verbatim theatre is: ‘theatre constructed from words spoken by people interviews about a particular event or topic.’ Any conversations recorded will only be done so with the CONSENT of the people we are talking to. Any material used will be anonymous. Any material used will not be used in its exact entirety. We will create an experiential piece of theatre out of the material gathered that stays true to the authentic tone of people’s experience but will not necessarily be a word for word exact replica of individual stories.
